Back to basics

I haven't blogged for a long while. First I found I had nothing to say, the words had dried up. Then the knitting ideas dried up. It's taken a while to get my mojo back.

I finally found it only to discover that the friend who hosted the blog I kept for ?? years had closed it down - can't say I blame her as who wants to host a blank space! So here I am back at the beginning and trying to remember how to use blogger, nothing fancy, keeping it simple enough for my chemo fogged brain to cope with.

Yes , that's right, chemo. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August 2012, had surgery in September 2012 and started chemo in October.

I think that in the last month I've knitted more hats than in the previous 5 years, now it's just a question of how many will I wear!

Memo to Self

Next time remember to bookmark your own blog! Then record your user name and password on something that wont crash and lose its memory!!

I've finally found my way back here and will now have to try and remember how to post.

Life is about to get hectic with 4 shows on the horizon. It's my first time as lead consultant and will also be the first time I'll be selling - though what I'll be selling is anyone's guess. Thank heavens for friends like Nic, Tess & Les who have more idea of that sort of thing. The Liberty Rowanettes are being very supportive as well

Winding yarn

I used to find this theraputic until I tried to wind Tagliatelli! I'm exhausted after dealing with just one skein, there has to be an easier way. Even worse is that I need to have 2 skeins on the go when knitting to even out the colouring add to that the 12mm needles and I'm beginning to wonder why I offered to knit this jacket for my sister's birthday , it would have been much easier to have just sent a cheque.

Oddballs

What is this fascination I have with oddballs of yarn?

I have far too much stash so why do I buy "sampler" balls of new yarn whenever I go to a yarn shop. Yesterday I went over to "Creations" in Barnes and spent an hour looking at all the different yarns and came away with samples of Noro "Blossom"; Touch Yarns, Rowan "Plaid" and Sirdar "Gigi".

I've planned that the Gigi will be used as xmas knitting, the Touch 2ply will also make up into lacy scarves either for gifts or to sell. the Noro is for me and will probably end up as yet another hat
